Learn collage techniques from collage artist Elizabeth de Wetter in this interactive workshop. Students will learn where to source materials and explore different surfaces (paper, wood board, canvas, cardboard), adhesives/attaching materials (including embroidery/sewing), paper cutting and tearing techniques, altering and modifying found images using image transfers and weaving, and compositional considerations/principles such as texture, silhouettes, and layers. Students will have the opportunity to play with different collage techniques and will take home a finished piece.

In honor of Joan Miró’s birthday month, we will recreate one of his famous lithographs, part of his Oda a Joan Miró collection. Students will be introduced to acrylic painting, brushes, and techniques. All levels are welcome!

Bring your favorite cat or dog to life through drawing and painting in celebration of National Pet Day! This class will cover the techniques of using soft pastels and watercolors to create both realistic and more stylized petportraits. Make sure to bring some photos of your animal(s) to class!

SHANNAN: FROM HERE TO THERE – A PHOTO WALK JOURNEY

All levels welcome. Supplies included. Students must bring a cell phone or digital camera to class.
Using colors, lines, and shapes as a guide, we will take a short walk around Basalt and capture photo images along the way. After each walk, we will make a journal page using our printed photos as inspiration. Students will learn how to introduce constraints to their photographs, editing tips and tricks, different techniques for printing and displaying photographs, and more.
This class will be held each month, allowing participants interested in continuing the journey throughout the year to track seasonal changes through photo imagery, paint, collage, and writing.
All levels are welcome and all materials, including printing, are included. Please bring a cell phone or digital camera to class. We look forward to seeing you there!
AspenOUT Presents: CREATIONS & LIBATIONS
On the 4th Tuesday of each month, our local LGBTQIA+ community comes together to socialize, make art, network, and have fun with or without an adult beverage. The class will feature a variety of projects in a variety of media. All levels are welcome. You will feel comfortable exploring creativity if you have no experience making art and have fun if you are an accomplished working artist, all in a safe environment, which is why Creations and Libations was conceived.

Supplies for class projects are provided by the Art Base unless otherwise indicated in course description.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Please give as much notice as possible if you need to cancel a registration. Cancellations within 48 hours of class start are subject to cancellation fees up to the total cost of registration.
SCHOLARSHIPS
Scholarships are available for all Art Base classes. Applications can be found on the Art Base website in both English and Spanish. Complete the online form or email the completed application and any questions regarding scholarships to programs@theartbase.org.

Art Base supporters of $50 and higher receive a 10% discount on all classes & workshops for you and your immediate family for 1 year from the date of donation.
